Requirements• Teaching degree or diploma with a minimum of 2 years experience.
• Valid driving license and own vehicle.
• Fluent written and spoken Afrikaans and English.
• Excellent computer, administration, and organizational skills.
• Working hours are from Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00 with a 60minute lunch break.
• Clear criminal record
• Candidate to start 1 July 2021. The induction will take place at the Pebbles Project in Stellenbosch.

Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the Early Care and Education Programme for the Pebbles Project.

Programme Development and Training
• To assist the ECEP Programme Manager with the development of the ECEP initiative.
• To provide input for the development of the ECEP initiative.
• To provide support to the ECEP facilitators by on-site support and training.
• To present any other initiatives as requested by the ECEP Programme Manager.
• To assist with the identification of learners with learning difficulties and refer individual cases to the SEN Programme Initiative Manager.

On-Site Support
• To present training to the ECEP facilitators on the Pebbles Project ECEP initiative and activities.
• To assess the ECD beneficiaries twice a year to compile learner reports and certificates.
• To ensure, under the direction of the ECEP Programme Manager, that the ECEP Programme initiatives are implemented correctly.
• To present training to the ECEP facilitators on effective classroom management.
• To present training to the ECEP facilitators on the presentation of lessons and activities.
• To take overall responsibility in advising the ECEP facilitators with the layout of the ECD centre.
• To purchase and distribute all the educational resources as required by the individual centres, as directed by the ECEP Programme Manager.
• To ensure that a cluster of centres has all the needed resources/equipment to function productively.
• To supervise any volunteers that have been assigned to the ECEP support teacher. Meeting with new volunteers who are placed on the designated cluster of farms and maintaining regular contact with these volunteers. Assist with completing reports or records for these volunteers. Day-to-day supervision of volunteers, when in charge of managing these volunteers. Ensure that all the necessary arrangements are in place for them to efficiently complete the volunteering experience.
• To organise the collection of all ECEP registers on a monthly basis and to inform the ECEP Programme Manager of any discrepancies in this regard.
• To facilitate quarterly parent meetings and one on one meetings when required.
• To ensure the general upkeep of communication with parents and ensure they are informed about their child’s involvement in any of the Pebbles Project programmes. Facilitate the dissemination of all programme documents.
• To organise two open days per year at the centre in collaboration with the SEP support teacher.
• To assist the Area Manager with the Health and Safety of a cluster of centres.
• To manage the centre waiting list and procedures for the intake of new children.
• To assist the ECEP Programme Manager with any Department of Social Developments processes and procedures.
• To support the Pebbles Project social workers if/when relevant. Conducting home visits with the Social Worker when necessary.

ECEP Staff Development
• To take overall responsibility for the ECEP facilitator’s development, guiding them to proficient in their skills when possible.
• To take overall responsibility for the quarterly ECEP facilitators.
• To conduct quarterly employee performance development meetings with the external ECEP facilitators.
• To assist and conduct the necessary HR processes with the ECEP facilitators, as well as with staff members on the farms’ behalf if applicable.
• To manage the leave administration of the ECEP facilitators if applicable.
• To assist Human Resources with induction of ECEP facilitators.
• To attend all the ECEP staff training, to streamline the communications between the office and the facilitators when required.

Centre Management
• To take overall responsibility for the general upkeep of the building and outdoor areas of all the centres assigned to the ECEP Support Teacher. The COO must authorise any building renovations.
• To take overall responsibility for all the ECEP communication with the relevant farms and centres.
• To create a building assessment and needs list and to annually update and prioritise.
• To source and liaise with service providers and super building projects.
• To manage and liaise with any renovation volunteers.
• To manage, maintain and take responsibility for the building and landscaping of outdoor play areas.
• To take overall responsibility for checking the centre inventories, under the direction of the ECEP Programme Manager. All centre inventories need to be checked 6 monthly, unless a centre closes down / staff member resign, in which case a complete stocktake must take place. The following stock take after a centre closes down / a staff member resigns, only need to be done 6 months later.

General Admin
• To assist with the planning of the ECEP staff and beneficiary year-end functions.
• To plan and execute the year-end prize-giving with the SEP support teacher at the relevant centers.
• To contribute towards monthly farm newsletters.
• To assist the program managers by putting together the monthly farm schedules and identify any amendments if required.
• To sort and distribute donations fairly between farm clusters.
• To follow reasonable instruction from the Senior Management team as a contribution towards the productivity of the organization.
